The Toyin Amuzu Foundation (TAF) has made a significant contribution to the economic development of Abeokuta South Local Government Area in Ogun State by empowering 100 women and youths with Point of Sales (POS) business opportunities and business name registrations with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

Chief Toyin Amuzu, a former House of Representatives candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), described the initiative as a strategic effort to promote self-reliance, enhance economic opportunities, and create jobs within the community.
“This initiative is aimed at addressing the economic hardships that many Nigerians are facing. By empowering individuals, we aim to provide them with the tools to support themselves and others, taking them off the streets,” Amuzu said.
He further clarified that the foundation’s mission is purely humanitarian and not politically driven.
“This is a non-profit, non-governmental, and non-political initiative dedicated to improving lives in Abeokuta South,” he explained.
Amuzu also highlighted the foundation’s ongoing commitment to philanthropy, citing previous projects such as interest-free loans for small and medium-scale enterprises, community water projects, and various empowerment programs for both youths and women in the Abeokuta South constituency.
With this new initiative, Amuzu emphasized that the foundation is committed to fostering economic growth by providing local entrepreneurs with the tools to formalize their businesses and unlock new opportunities.
“This initiative aims to empower at least 200 people. By empowering 100 individuals, each of them could potentially employ one person, creating a cycle of employment where workers can rotate shifts, ensuring job continuity and payment,” he said.
“To further support the beneficiaries, we provided POS machines and kiosks, ensuring they have the necessary infrastructure to operate their businesses effectively and shield them from harsh weather conditions,” Amuzu added.
Amuzu reiterated that his motivation stems from a sincere desire to support the community, rather than any political agenda.
“I’m not doing this because I am a PDP member; I’m doing this because I understand the challenges many people face in today’s economic climate. Simply handing out money is not a sustainable solution. Empowering people with businesses offers a more lasting way to make a difference,” he explained. “The majority of the beneficiaries are not PDP members—only about 15 of them are. The rest were selected randomly from the streets of Abeokuta South for this empowerment.”
Speaking to journalists after the presentation of cash, CAC certificates, and kiosks, Amuzu emphasized that the foundation’s efforts could serve as a model for private-sector-driven empowerment in Nigeria.
“As Nigeria faces economic challenges, initiatives like this show how strategic support can help build resilience and promote economic growth,” he stated.
At the certificate presentation, Hon. Abayomi Nureni Tella of the PDP urged party members to unite ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Don’t focus on faces when uniting, but rather on the benefits that can come from collaboration. To the beneficiaries, always remember the day Chief Amuzu stepped in when no one else did. His vision for a better future should never be forgotten,” Tella said.
He also called on the women present to pray for the party, emphasizing the importance of their support.
